Manifestation is about identifying the “feeling” of what we want and staying there.
When I think of my dream life, I think of passion, love and freedom. But what do passion, love, and freedom really mean? Sometimes all of this feels so vague and complex.
As I write this, I close my eyes and whisper to myself,
Passion. love. freedom
Passion.. love.. freedom
Passion…love...freedom…
Ah.
So it is presence that I truly desire.
A gentle audit
Do you also want love and freedom? When you visualize your desires, what are you doing? Or better yet, how are you being?
Whenever I imagine myself being “free”, a scenario always comes to mind: I’m walking down the street and I am content and satisfied. I notice the world around me. I feel whole. I am free, because I am present.
Lately, I’ve been practicing mindfulness by taking a gentle audit of what my mind is thinking about:
Past
Past
Future
Future
Future
Past
Present*
Future
Future
Past
Present*
Future
*I’ve noticed that I live more in the past and future than in the present.
When living in the past or future, my mind is on overdrive. I am constantly repeating old patterns and narratives like they’re addictions. I am freaking exhausted.
But when I am present (like truly present), I am both in my body and outside of my body. I accept my lightness and darkness. My mind is open and receptive, and anything I think of feels elevating. Anything I observe feels true.
Are you in your mind or your body more?
True love and freedom
For most of us, up until this point, we’ve been running our lives instead of living our lives.
We spend so much energy and attention on what was and what will be. We glorify the future and demonize the past. We treat the present as an elusive reward—like it’s a rare gift to be claimed once we’ve fixed some part of ourselves and our lives (but never to be enjoyed for too long).
But presence is how you feel when you catch a sunset on your way home or the moon when you look up in the night sky. Presence is how you feel when you’re sitting with your family and friends, and you’re all laughing or crying or doing nothing cause this life feels so chaotic but also so right. Presence is how you feel when you walk outside, hear the wind greet you, and feel the air kiss you.
The present is where everything exists.
So why are we running, when where we want to end up is ‘here’?
Freedom is about being in the now.
True freedom is presence.
Holiday presence
I absolutely love the mental audit you are/were doing. I am going to begin this for a bit because I too realize I spend a lot of time in the past and future.
